Travelling with Kids: Keep Your Car Clean on a Road Trip

Travelling with kids in the car means that parents need to be extra careful and get used to the thought they will have to be a lot patient, even more than usual.

Of course, not all children look alike. Some simply fall asleep once they get in the car and you put them in their car seat, while others truly hate travelling with car as well as the fact that they need to be trapped in the seat for several hours.

So, before going on a road trip with their children, parents need to make a plan and remember that still, they need to be careful and patient. The first thing they need to do when planning the trip is to choose the most suitable time for them. Usually, they are recommended to hit the road at a time when the weather is not so hot. In addition, it is not a good idea to to start your trip at the children feeding time, because they will be more nervous than usual.

Remember that being practical is essential when travelling with children. This equals not only making the trip bearable for everyone in the car, but also considering how to keep the car clean during the trip. Food stains, juice spills, crumbs and dirty handprints everywhere in the car are not something that you want, so you need to think how to limit the damages to your car interior and upholstery.

Pick some suitable clothes

It is essential to choose some suitable clothes that you can literally spare. Or if we have to put this in other words – choose such clothes that your children could get dirty without this being much of a problem. Of course, you also need to remember that kids should be dressed comfortably, since they will be forced to spend several hours in the car.

Choosing the right foods and drinks
Get some drinks and snacks that will make you feel comfortable over the travel, i.e. they will not spoil, melt or make too much of a mess. A great idea in such cases is to get something that you usually give to your children as a treat. Of course, the foods and drinks should be chosen in correspondence to the kid’s taste, especially when you have more than one child. Be ready to prepare a small pack of treats for every child according to their personal tastes and preferences.

In addition, foods and drinks should be kept in packages that will prevent them from getting all over the car’s upholstery. It is a good idea for the drinks to be kept in plastic bottles and not in glass ones. Make some sandwiches that your kids like and remember not to use too much dressing to prevent it from dripping. Fruits and vegetables are always a good choice.

Prepare a bag with the most essential items
Do not forget to pack a special bag that should be kept in you over the road trip. Wet wipes, napkins, a spare pair of clothes – these are only some of the things that you need to consider getting in it, because there is nothing more boring than being forced to open the suitcases in order to find everything you need.

Napkins and dry towel always come in handy, because children often spill their bottles of juice and water. Do not forget to get a small bottle of antibacterial gel, too. Still, you should use a disinfectant that contains no chemicals in order to clean your kid’s hands before they start eating.

Consider booking a professional car upholstery cleaning services
And still, if you have not managed to keep your car clean even by following the above-mentioned tips, consider booking a special car upholstery cleaning – after all, professionals know best and will take care of your vehicle’s upholstery to get you rid of the stains and spills.
