Are you adventurous?

Adventurous
1. inclined or willing to engage in adventures; enjoying adventures.

2. full of risk; requiring courage; hazardous: an adventurous undertaking.

I would not fall into either category, because I prefer a well planned, routine lifestyle.  I work best surrounded with comfort and peace. However, lately, the Lord has been  changing my circumstances that definitely stretch me. This past week, I took the week off to do some camping which is stepping out of routine.
Also, I changed jobs recently. I taught pre-school for several years at a tiny mountain school house in our small town. Due to free public transitional kindergarden, I was forced to find alternative work. Fortunately, I was hired at a nearby Christian Conference Center as a Facilities Administrative Assistance.
As I mentioned earlier, I enjoy routine and this was a huge change for me. However, I must admit, I love my new position! It is refreshing change moving to an office environment, meeting new people and working on challenging projects. It has helped me grow tremendously as an individual.
Along the way, I am learning to be flexible and go with the flow. The Bible says:
Many are the plans in a person’s heart,
but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevail
-Proverbs 19:21
And even though I don’t always understand His plans, they always turn out better than mine.
Another verse, I cling to is:
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord,
“plans to prosper you and not to harm you,
plans to give you hope and a future.”
-Jeremiah 29:11
How about you? Has the Lord lead you on a new adventure? I would love to hear about it! Feel free to share with us.

  1. Congratulations on the new job, Rebecca! I’m glad it’s working out. On my end, I am in transition. I’ve “retired” from some of my ministries and am taking baby steps on the road I think God is leading me on. I too love routine and change is hard for me. So this is scary stuff, but I’m trying to trust and listen. 🙂

    • It sounds like you’re in a whole new season. I too stepped down from two long term ministries. For me, it’s a season of trimming. Thanks for stopping by and sharing Claire…Enjoy!
