Family Resources

This week a friend of mine approached me and asked, “Rebecca, do you know what kind of paperwork our church benevolence fund requires to help us with our childcare expenses?” After our conversation, I thought to myself I wonder if other families have similar questions/concerns. So, I’ve compiled a short list of family resources I am aware of in Santa Cruz County and am sure similar organization are available in your area as well.

  1. Church benevolence or deacon fund – Many churches have benevolence or deacon funds that help families pay their utility bills, rent, etc.
  2. Food pantries/banks – Community churches or organizations such as Valley Churches United Method offer food assistance to families in need. Also, they help with special projects such as Easter, Thanksgiving and/or Christmas meals.
  3. Organizations such as HUD offer assistance in finding affordable housing for families.

I hope these ideas are helpful. If you know of other resources, please share with our community of families.

Blessings, Rebecca
