A Divided Nation

This past weekend we took our children to our favorite breakfast house 60 miles east of our town. It had been approximately three years since we visited.

While enjoying our delicious meals, I looked up at their mounted television and saw violence in Virginia. My heart grew heavy as I remember the famous quote of John Dickinson, “Then join hand in hand, brave Americans all! By uniting we stand, by dividing we fall!” It saddened me that our fellow Americans were hurting each other over their differences.

In the Bible, Moses asks a similar question of his fellow countrymen in Exodus 2:13. The next day he went out and saw two Hebrews fighting. He asked the one in the wrong, “Why are you hitting your fellow Hebrew?”

Would you join me in praying for peace in America?
