California Wildland Fires

Sorry for the late post this week. We just returned home from a mandatory fire evacuation in Santa Cruz Mountains. It all started August 16 following an electrical storm the likes we’ve never experienced.

Sadly, the CZU Lightning Complex Fire is 80,000 + acres,, 45% contained and 900+ homes destroyed. In addition, California’s oldest state park Big Basin is devastated; only 2 structures remain standing.

Multiple agencies are battling the blaze and this week the National Guard was called in to assist.

Although, we’ve been out of our normal routine for several days, we thank the Lord our family is safe and sound. Plus, our cabin remains untouched as well as Mount Hermon and Mission Springs camps.

Please join us praying for the safety of our first responders including firefighters fighting the fires and police/sheriff protecting citizens against looters. Also, please pray for the families who lost their homes in the raging fire and for the remaining folks who are still displaced.

Blessings, Rebecca
