My husband Randy had the honor of officiating a friend’s memoral this past weekend.

About three years ago we met this family who are residents where Randy works. Their kids hung out with our kids.

Unfortunately after battling cancer for a couple of years, her body finally succumbed to the treacherous disease.

My heart aches for her widower, son, daughter-in-law, two daughters and two granddaughters.

One of her daughters chose a beautiful ocean venue for the service.  They rented a house overlooking the Pacific Ocean. It was stunning!

Their closest family and friends came together to laugh, cry, comfort one another and share stories.

We were blessed by the love she shared with our family during her time with us and we enjoyed listening to stories of how she impacted the lives of others.

I learned more about her love, encouragement, inspiration and open door policy.  Man, what a role model!

Attending something like this reminds me to live life to the fullest and embrace the people God has placed in your life.

Blessings, Rebecca

An important part of our family life is friends. My daughter’s best friend, Heather (pictured above on left)  is an intigual part of Alicia’s life. They share life together: The good, bad and ugly.

My son, Austin, is plugged into his youth group Young Life is important that he connects with like minded high schoolers. They support another with life’s pressures.

I have some gals I’ve connected with in the past couple of years. I appreciate I can share my life with them and they can share their lives with me.

I believe friendships enrich our family lives. Do you?

Do you have special friends you do life with?

Blessings, Rebecca

Rest & Relaxation

As I reflect on another year on planet Earth, I realized I had been remise in spending quality time with girlfriends.

So, when my friend, Annette, invited me to a local women’s church retreat, I jumped on it.

Below, we are pictured next to a grove of gorgeous redwood trees located in the majestic Santa Cruz mountains.

We had a blast talking for hours around a firepit, eating food we didn’t have to prepare, worshipping God, and listening to our guest speakers share their life experiences.

One bit of wisdom I walked away with is being a part of a purposeful community where we allow others to minister to us and where can minister to them.

Man, I needed to hear that, because I tend to go at life independently much of the time. However, it is wearisome and as women, daughters, sisters, wives and mothers we need each other’s support.

Let us consider how we may spur one

another on toward love and good deeds,

not giving up meeting together, as some

are in the habit of doing, but encouraging

one another… – Hebrew’s 10:24-25
