Crrraaaack, snap…boom! My son and I looked at each other on the couch, because we knew a tree had just fallen.

I jumped up, put my rain boots and ran outside. I walked up and down our street, but didn’t see anything.

A few minutes later, we heard sirens. So, Austin threw on his sneakers to see what all the commotion was about. He discovered our neighbor two blocks away had a 100′ douglas fir tree fall on it.

I turned on Fire Dispatch scanner and heard the local fire department requesting dispatch to notify American Red Cross the house is uninhabitable due to a large hole in it.

I turned on my work radio and heard coworkers helping the family evacuate to a safe place, because they were also downed high voltage lines sparking nearby. Thank the Lord no one was hurt.

We later learned that the family was offered a Mount Hermon cabin, another neighbor’s house across the street or lodging through American Red Cross.

I love our community! It’s awesome to see folks come together to help one another during tough times and celebrate life together.

Last year, I wrote about a fire behind our house. So many folks have helped the three families who lost their homes by offering them places to stay, meals and support through rebuilding.

Earlier this week, a co-worker went around collecting money to help two struggling families with rent and food.

Another co-worker picks up food donations every Thursday from a local church and places it on a bench outside an office the anyone to take from.

Also, a resident emailed me a Meal Train calendar to share with our community for a couple who just had a baby.

In December, I shared how how we were blessed by friends and co-workers with a mountain cabin for a week at Christmas.

In the past couple of months, we’ve hosted baby showers for expectant parents blessing them with necessary items for their little ones.

In April, we will celebrate a co-worker’s wedding.

Again, I absolutely love our community! I feel blessed to be a part of it. We care for one another, reach out and get involved.

And He said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself.” – Luke 10:27

Do you live in an amazing community as well? If so, I would love to hear about. Please share with us.

Blessings, Rebecca

Children’s Books for Rancho de Sus Ninos

rancho

mission

Our son, Austin, just returned from Tecate, Mexico where he and his entire 7th grade class served at Rancho de Sus Ninos orphanage. What an awesome experience! During their stay, they mixed and poured several yards of concrete, helped clean up the surrounding town, played with the children, and did skits for the community.

My husband, Randy, also brought clothes down from Dress A Girl Around the World and Dress A Dude as well as some Spanish children’s books. They were well received. In fact, before he left, the Director requested more clothes which we were able to secure this past Sunday.

Today, we received a request for 100 copies each of the Spanish children’s books for their teachers and students. Wow, this is a huge request! One of my favorite speakers, Joyce Meyer, says we should help others when we can. If we simply cannot fulfill the need on your own, she suggests we ask others to help. So, we are asking for your help financially with this request as it is simply too big for our family budget.

Here’s the breakdown:

cover-image Me Gusta Comer Vegetales $10×100=$1,000

cover-image Me Gusta Comer Fruta $10×100=$1,000

cover-image Yo Soy Bonita $10×100=$1,000

cover-image Me Gusta La Playa $10×100=$1,000

Total: $4,000 + shipping (?)

If you’d like to contribute to this cause, you can help by sending your donation to our Paypal account (Randy Krusee) by 5/30/15. Thank you in advance for your generosity!

Update 6/2/15

We were able to secure a discount on the purchase price from the printers from $10 to $4 per book. Also, we received a donation from the members of Hilltop Ministries. Thank you! We continue to trust God for the balance to meet their need.
